Lara Darwazah

I am an Education specialist who worked as a music teacher in London, Dubai and Jordan in the last twenty years. In 2011 I published a food blog to cater for my deep interest in food and culture. My Blog was featured in on the BBC food magazine, and have written various articles for 7iber; a Jordanian based online magazine that fosters critical thinking and investigative journalism and a Dubai based Food magazine FoodeMag.

Before turning to Writing, I received a degree in Education and have a qualified teacher status from Reading University in the UK and held various positions as head of music at London’s International Community School and as Music Director for various children’s productions in the UK and Dubai’s Community Theatre and Arts Centre.

In 2012 I obtained a qualification in Neuro Linguistic Programming to further enhance my understanding of how children and adults learn.

In 2015 I started a Master’s degree in Children’s Literature with the University of Roehampton in the UK to do an in depth research on the literature of displacement and the difference in refugee representations between the East and West.

In 2016 I partnered with the UNWFP to photo document and write stories about Vulnerable Jordanian beneficiaries and Syrian refugees; how they use the ingredients available to them, what changed in their lives in the way they cook and eat.
